Tell us your name. Steve Turner
How and when did you first start running? The same time that I started teaching! It’s a great way to relieve stress.
What brought you to Nidd Valley? After I went to Harrogate Harriers and no-one spoke to me.
When did you join Nidd Valley? 2016
What is your favourite running music? Genre or specific tracks? The last time I listened to music while running was on a minidisc player. One of my colleagues persuaded me that they were the future of portable music! I much prefer running without music now.
What is your favourite food before and after running? Banana, milk and cocoa powder in the blender gives a fantastic recovery shake.
What is your best running tip that you would like to share with us? Smile while running! It helps you relax your posture and disguises the internal pain you are suffering.
What is your proudest moment in your running career? Finishing the London Marathon this year. It was brutally hot but I had had so much support from people who had sponsored me so I knew I had to keep going.
What are your running goals? The sub-20 Parkrun that keeps eluding me.
What event are you training for at the moment? That 20 minute Parkrun.
