Week Ahead – Sunday 26th January 2020

Afternoon All

I hope you’re all well and for those of you at the awards evening last night I hope you all had a fun evening. I’m certainly feeling it today, I think I need to remember I’m not 21 anymore!

I thanked a lot of people last night, but my final thanks was to you, the members of Nidd Valley, for making the club such a friendly and welcoming place for people to belong and I mean that most sincerely.

Wekk Ahead – Sunday 19th January 2020

Afternoon All

Another huge success for Nidd Valley Road Runners today! Planning and working together with Knaresborough Striders to make today’s Peco XC such a fabulous event.

Watching you all come together, racing, marshaling and encouraging one another was a delight to see and be part of. Hats off to Dave Seaman for planning and organising the route, a challenging one by all accounts; and to Graham Hyde for plotting the marshal spots and coordinating all the marshals.

We have an exciting week ahead as it’s finally time to enjoy what for many is the highlight of the year. Yes, it’s our awards night on Saturday. I’m ahead of the game on this one. Before anyone asks ” is it suitable for off road shoes?” the answer is an easy “No”. No trainers, spikes, fell shoes or trail shoes, and no club vests or club buffs! Just plenty of style and panache. Sparkle, feathers and frills are especially welcome.

So here we go, the week ahead.

Come on you know you want to do this. You’ll feel better afterwards and feel even better on Saturday when you’re strutting your stuff at the awards evening.

Tuesday 21/1/20 Intervals. St Catherines Road.
Sarah and Lynsey will be coaching this session of 1km loops
7pm from the club or 7.10pm at St Catherine’s Road. Please be warmed up and ready to run.

There are plenty of options to add extra miles from this route but Ill leave that up to you and your respective groups to decide.

Northern Cross Country Race. Camp Hill, Bedale.
Team Captains, Sarah and Martin will be providing further information for this race.

Saturday 26/1/20. NVRR Awards Evening.

Week Ahead – Sunday 12th January 2020

Afternoon All

What a glorious day it’s turned out to be after such a miserable start!

Well done to everyone racing today, I know we had a championship fell race aptly named the Stanbury Splash and I believe we had some runners in the Brass Monkey race too.

If you’re reading this and you haven’t been down to the club for a while, well, we’re missing you!
Come on, you know the benefits of running with others even if its late, its cold, you’ve got a million and one other things to do. I promise you you’ll feel better afterwards!

So to make sure everyone is in the loop, last Wednesday we held a committee meeting with lots discussed so I thought I would briefly mention some items I think will be of interest to you.

Club Social Media.
A tricky subject but a couple of issues have arisen more recently, and actually over the years, regarding social media use by members. As a result next week I will outline a plan the committee have agreed to try to ensure our social media contact is predominantly running focused and friendly.

NVRR. Vests and clothing.
We are very close to changing our vest supplier to a company that can supply a better quality vest, and most importantly, for the ladies in the club – a specific women’s fit. More details will follow once we have things finalised.

New Members.
Please buddy up with any new member or anyone coming along to try us out. Its always daunting when you’re new or trying something for the first time.

Annual General Meeting.
This is just a heads up that this will take place on Thursday 27th February 2020 in the bar of the hockey club after our usual evening run. Christina Taylor, our Club Secretary, will be forwarding information regarding this within the next 2 weeks.
Please put the date in your diary as we need as many people as possible to attend.

So, onto this week. W/C 13/1/20.

Sunday 19/1/20

Graham is still in need of volunteers so please if you can spare a few hours contact him.

Group 3. – Approx 10 to 10.30 minute mile pace

Week Ahead – Sunday 6th Janaury 2020

Afternoon All

Happy New Year to each and every one of you. I hope this year brings you good health, peace and new adventures.

Well done to those runners taking part in the Yorkshire Cross Country on Saturday and to all the teams in the Ringway Relay event. I must say one looked to be a lot more fun than the other! Of course I would have loved to have taken part in either event.

I’m sure you’ll all join me in saying a huge thank you to Dave Seaman who has worked closely with Harrogate Harriers to get the Ringway Relay off the ground, and to make the event the success it was. Thank you Dave.

On a similar note Dave and Graham Hyde are busy preparing for the Peco race number 3 at Crimple Valley, Harrogate which we are hosting with Knaresborough Striders . Please consider marshaling if you’re not running and can spare some time on 19th January. Ill be there cheering everyone on with words of encouragement, the odd sarcastic comment and a well earned pat on the back at the finish.

This week the club house is open as usual on Tuesday 7th with for changing facilities only; but on Thursday 9th it’s open for post run drinks too. I will be there hoping to see some of you for a little get together.

One last reminder before the week ahead.

Awards Night! Saturday 25/1/20.
Tickets are still available and a bargain at £30. Please liaise with Nadene Wilkinson who has all the information.
