I started running in 2013 and soon discovered I was quite competitive. After completing 5k parkruns, a couple of 10ks and the Great North Run, I couldn’t improve any more on my own. A couple of chance meetings with NVRR folks, at a parkrun, Martin Lofthouse after GNR and one of my friends joining, I took the plunge, rocked up to a club run and never looked back. Achievements – 1.57 half marathon, the bed race, 2 mins off my 5k time & overcoming my school hatred of cross country (love it now), all in a year… I would say to any budding runners – join the club! There are so many opportunities to try different races, and make some amazing new friends at the same time. It’s fab!
