Constant drizzle and wind couldn’t take away the joy of running through this typical Pennine landscape today at the first of the 2015 club fell championship races. 2014’s title holders (Carol, Tim, Sarah and Mark) were back to commence their defence. At the Ian Roberts Fell Race in Marsden above Huddersfield 9 Nidds arrived to experience the moorland route of 10.3K and 260 metres of ascent – plenty of hills and muddy technical descents in a field of 135 runners. Congratulations to Damien Handslip for his first race in a Nidd vest and Simon Harris with his first race for almost a year following injury. Thanks to all 9 Nidds for making the journey across worthwhile. Finishing order:
Tim Harvey (18th) 55.43
Simon Harris (60th) 63.54
Carol Morgan (69th) 66.26
Brian Sherwood (82nd) 69.25
Mark David (85th) 69.58
Damien Handslip (88th) 70.35
Phil Robinson (92nd) 71.20
Dave Seaman (115th) 79.54
Sarah Chalmers (131st) 95.35
A warm clubhouse with loads of cakes and tea was a welcome and friendly recovery.
