Parkrun
Harrogate once again had a huge turnout of runners for the Saturday morning slog on The Stray. Nidd had 23 taking part, and Hasabo Hasabo continued with his excellent form finishing 4th overall in a time 18:57. Nadine Wilkinson also put in a storming performance and managed to get herself a PB – she crossed the line in 25:29. Nidd Junior Brody Pattison ran his first ever Parkrun, and he finished in 38:39. Great running by all!
At Milton Keynes, the parkrun was attended by 399 runners, and Alex Patrickson from NVRR was there representing t’north. Alex had a brilliant run, and finished 2nd (!) overall in a time of 18:21 – he was only three seconds behind 1st place…..
Adam Kirk and Michelle Smith went to Woodhouse Moor in Leeds for their Saturday morning parkrun fix, along with 498 other runners. Adam managed to secure 6th position overall in a time of 18:02, and Michelle crossed the line in 30:27 (saving some energy for a long run she did on Sunday)
At Fountains, Andrew Aird secured himself a PB by finishing in 24:43. Great parkrunning all round!
Hull Marathon
Michelle Smith had been taking easy at parkrun as she had the small task of running 26.2 miles the day after. This year’s city of culture was the venue for the race, and as well as local artwork being displayed at every mile marker, there was live music by local bands every 2 miles! Michelle put in a fantastic effort and finished in time of 4:57:03 – great performance from Nidd!
DT40 – Dales Trail series
Here are the race stats: 40km route starting and finishing at Semer Water, Wensleydale. Over 3000ft of ascent. One of the ascents is around 12km. To take part you will need strategy, consistency, and stamina. Ability to read a map is recommended. Sounds fun…
Emma David and Damien Handslip thought they would have a bash at this challenging event – the final and longest race of the three race series. Emma managed to finish in a time of 4:53:22, and Damien crossed the line in 5:31:18. Well done to both of them, a great achievement!
Great Whernside fell race
Three from NVRR thought it would be a good idea to spend their Saturday morning running 4 miles up and back down a massive hill. With 456 metres of ascent over bogs, grass, and clag, Andy Harris, Carol Morgan, and Catherine Barber all seized the opportunity to get muddy. Andy finished in 41:08, Carol in 43:56 and Catherine in 56:15. Judging by the photographic evidence available of the race, it seemed very muddy – it looked like the bloke who won it had been snorkelling in the stuff.
Harrogate Haverah Trail Race
Our Harrier friends once again hosted this lovely 10 mile race in and around Haverah Park, taking in the reservoirs and the scenic surrounding area. NVRR had seven runners taking part, including Helen Cook who was wearing her club colours for the first time. Matt Wilkinson was the first Nidd over the line in 1:11:47, with Martin Lofthouse not too far behind in 1:15:22 (and bagging 1st MV50). Carol Morgan was next in 1:22:18, and bagged 1st FV40, with Rob Snow next over the line in 1:32:50. Andrew Peagram finished in 1:39:45, and Helen Cook got her first NVRR finishing time of 1:42:44. Graham Hyde was the 7th Nidd to cross the line, and he finished in a time of 2:17:44. Another solid performance from Nidd…
Well done one and all, another really busy weekend of running. Keep it up.
