Parkrun
Once again, runners from the club have been far and wide this weekend at various parkrun’s around the UK and Ireland. Sylvia Morten completed her 50th parkrun in 31:25 at Harrogate on Saturday, while birthday boy Robert Hill was at Finsbury parkrun, and finished in a time of 26:31.
Colleen Gruenwald was up at Falkirk parkrun, and crossed the line in 27:10, and Cath Barber was over in Ireland near to Dublin at the Waterstown parkrun. Cath finished 5th lady in a time of 27:18.
Over towards Leeds, Adam Kirk took it steady at Rothwell and finished in 26:02, while Mark Armstrong put in a great performance to get a time of 23:05 at Woodhouse Moor.
Bolton Abbey runs
There were several distances on offer for Sunday’s event at Bolton Abbey, with the majority from Nidd taking part in the half marathon and 10 mile events. Sensibly, a few others had a go at the 10k and 2 mile events.
Liam Escott, a Nidd Valley junior, ran in the 2 mile event and finished in a time of 16:14. Liam finished 4th out of 132 runners. Rachel Geary and Christina Taylor had a go at the 10k race, with Rachel in 1:14:01 and Christina in 1:23:06.
In the 10 mile event, Debra Jenkins crossed the line in 2:10:34 (and finishing 4th in F55 category), followed by Jane Hill in 2:29:09. Graham Hyde also ran in the 10 mile race, and crossed the line in 2:44:43.
Adam Kirk ran the half marathon and he finished in time of 1:41:57, with Christine Holleran next in 2:35:32. Christine also managed to achieve 2nd place in F50 category, and Jeremy Scott also completed the half marathon in a time of 2:51:00.
Burley Moor Run
The 8th Burley Moor run took place on Saturday as part of the Burley village summer festival (even though it’s November) The route is 11k with about 380m of climb over some classic fell terrain – steep ascents and descents, moorland tracks, and an obligatory amount of mud. Out of the 221 runners competing on a very sunny Saturday, Alex Robinson was first for Nidd in 56:46, 57th overall, followed by Simon Franklin (running for Horsforth Fellandale on this occasion – we’ll let him off) who finished 82nd with a time of 59:42. FRP Robinson finished in 67:04 and 134th overall, Fiona Robinson 90:03 and 208th, and Sarah Chalmers in 1:40:25.
