Parkrun
It’s been another great weekend at parkrun for NVRR with several PB’S being achieved. Firstly, well done to all the Zip to Zoomers who ran at Harrogate on Saturday – I understand that they all improved their times. It just proves what achievements come from hard work and determination, well done to you all and your coaches – onward and upwards!
Edoardo Piano got himself a PB at Harrogate – he finished in 18:53 and 4th place overall. Also achieving PB’S were Jonathan Clipston and Lisa Clipston – Lisa finished in 38:45 and Jonathan in 32:47.
At Fountains, Matt Wilkinson continued to impress by finishing 5th overall and bagging himself a new PB of 17:48. Martin Lofthouse and Andy Harris travelled up to Catterick parkrun, with Andy finishing 2nd overall in 18:23 and Martin not far behind in 4th in a time of 18:54.
The other touring Nidd’s were Graham Hyde who went to Roundhay Park – he finished in a time of 36:31, and Matt Rickard was in Wolverhampton and ran it in 20:27.
Well done to all parkrunners, and to all from Nidd who volunteered.
PECO XC Race 1
Nostell Priory was the venue for the first race of the seasons cross country event, and although the sun was out, it’s fair to say that it was pretty Baltic! A good number of club runners, both junior and senior, made the dash down the A1 on Sunday for the race. After much faffing about at the registration area, Nidd all huddled in the club gazebo to await the start of the race which was inevitably delayed.
The junior 1 mile (school years 3-6) was the first race of the day, and James Shaw was the first runner back for Nidd in a time of 6:28. Kate Whiley was next in 7:43, then James Barraclough in 8:35. Eleanor Easton (not officially NVRR yet, but the official results show her running for Chapel Allerton Runners!) crossed the line in 9:18.
The second event of the day was the junior 2 mile race (school years 7-12), and Liam Escott was first back for the club in a time of 15:47. Next was Connie Mitton in a time of 19:58, then Beth Whiley in 21:27.
The final event was the senior race where we had 34 club runners take part (not bad for a cold morning in November), and Matt Wilkinson was first back for Nidd in 31:41 (apparently massively hungover), followed by Edoardo Piano in 32:56. Martin Lofthouse was next in 34:17, then Andy Todd in 35:05, and Kevin Nicholson in 35:49.
Andy Harris was next to cross the finish line in 36:16, then Alex Robinson 36:32, Matthew Rochester 36:40, Jamie Dilasser 36:55, Nigel Scaife 37:47, Steve Turner 38:01, Brian Hainsworth 38:29, Phil Ventress in 39:19, and James Cook in 39:57.
Rebecca Barron put in a great performance and was the first Nidd lady to finish in a time of 39:57, and next was Michael Benson in 41:24. Liam Marwood was close behind in 41:37, as was Phil Robinson in 41:42, then John Mitton in 42:06.
Paul Manning was next to finish in 42:50, with Sue Simpson not too far behind in 43:16. Dave Seaman was next in 44:30, then Steve Newton in 46:22, then Nadine Wilkinson in 46:36.
Nick Smith crossed the line in 48:13, then Jenny Manning in 48:35, Rachael Prince 49:12, Debbie Dilasser 49:32, and running his first cross country event, Robert Hill in 50:45. Carolyn Easton was next in 51:04, then Lynsey Barraclough in 51:22, Michelle Smith 52:19, Jane Hill 52:54, and Fiona Robinson in 58:54.
A hearty performance by all involved and a great turnout – hopefully we can keep the numbers up as we move on to the next event at Golden Acre Park on December 10th.
