Tell us your name. Stephen (Steff) Quinn
How and when did you first start running? My primary school teacher(Mr Love) was a former semi pro footballer and keen runner. To get into his school football team you had run for the x-country team first, found out I was a better runner than footballer.
What brought you to Nidd Valley? It was the closet club to my home.
When did you join Nidd Valley? Feb 2017
What is your favourite running music? Genre or specific tracks? I don’t listen to anything when running.
Could listen to The Clash, Big Audio Dynamite and Proclaimers all day.
What is your favourite food before and after running? Anything Plant Based.
What is your best running tip that you would like to share with us? 80/20. Most of us do all of our running at the same pace and become a bit stale, hit a plateau. I now run 80% easy, really easy and 20% hard and fastish. I feel less tired in races now.
What is your proudest moment in your running career? Twice won Scottish National X-Country team titles with my boyhood club Motherwell YMCA Harriers.
Got as high as 24th in the RAF X-Country champs in amongst some bloody good runners in the 1990’s
1500m PB of 4min 05secs.
What are your running goals? Get back under 19min for Parkrun 40min for 10k and do 100mile in 24hrs.
What event are you training for at the moment? The next one
