Tell us your name. | Christine Jones |
How and when did you first start running? | 1979, yes that long ago! My final year at school when most girls discover romance and stop any form of exercise. I had always been an active kid but lacked the confidence to race so I was a late starter. Ironically, running helped with my confidence as a youngster and as an adult I find it helps with any stress and puts most things in perspective. |
What brought you to Nidd Valley? | Moving to Harrogate in 2013, I wanted to meet people and joining a running club seemed an obvious way to do that. NVRR gave me the warmest welcome and seemed the most friendly. |
When did you join Nidd Valley? | Autumn 2014 |
What is your favourite running music? Genre or specific tracks? | I’ve never listened to music whilst running. I prefer to listen to my breathing when I’m on my own but much prefer group running and chatting. |
What is your favourite food before and after running? | Porridge with honey before a race and after a race a well earned glass of anything alcoholic, pizza, chips, food of any kind really. |
What is your best running tip that you would like to share with us? | Most running is about mind over matter, believe in yourself and remember some running at any pace for any distance is better than nothing. |
What is your proudest moment in your running career? | 1984 aged 21 years. UK Police National Cross Country 1st place. Same year National 1500m 1st place in a new record of 4 mins 31 secs and 1st in 800m. |
What are your running goals? | To enjoy my running and to accept my limitations. |
What event are you training for at the moment? | To complete 7 of the road championship races. |
