Tell us your name. | Martin Weeks |
How and when did you first start running? | I have always run, sporadically, and that goes back to the mists of time. parkrun that got me interested in running on a regular basis, about five years ago. |
What brought you to Nidd Valley? | My better half, Yvonne Skelton, joined. As I already new quite a few NVRR members from parkrun I thought it would add to my enjoyment – it has! |
When did you join Nidd Valley? | April 2018. |
What is your favourite running music? Genre or specific tracks? | I like music but I don’t like running with it. I love the landscape and listening to the birds, wind and sounds of the countryside. |
What is your favourite food before and after running? | Coffee, muesli, coffee, freshly warmed Welsh cakes, coffee, more warm Welsh cakes (my Welsh heritage coming out). Oh yes …… more coffee. |
What is your best running tip that you would like to share with us? | A lot of my friends stopped running in their 50s with knackered knees. In my 70s I am lucky enough to be still running, albeit now moderate distances, and I put that down to my love of off-road and cross country. So my hot tip would be limit the time you spend on tarmac. |
What is your proudest moment in your running career? | Watching Yvonne do so well in her 60s. I will keep my proud moments for cycling! |
What are your running goals? | To run in as many interesting places as possible. We do parkrun tourism and whenever we are in France we try to include runs with travelling and holidays. We ran In the grounds of Versailles one frosty morning, and on another occasion we did the parkrun at Fontainebleau. Parkrun 250 would be good. On 177 at the moment. |
What event are you training for at the moment? | The next parkrun with Tony L-C! |
