Tell us your name. | Richard Taylor |
How and when did you first start running? | 2006 I decided I needed to get fit and entered Leeds half marathon. I had no idea what I was doing and my longest training run was only 7 miles. I managed to get round in under 2 hours but it was very tough, but I had got the running bug and wanted to have a crack at a marathon. |
What brought you to Nidd Valley? | After having several years out of running I got a place in the London marathon and wanted to train properly. My wife was a member of the club and told me how friendly everyone was, and this gave me the push I needed to join. |
When did you join Nidd Valley? | March 2017 |
What is your favourite running music? Genre or specific tracks? | I don’t tend to listen to music when running. A favourite track would be The long distant runner by Iron Maiden. |
What is your favourite food before and after running? | Before running I tend to eat bananas or porridge, after I enjoy ham and cheese toasties. |
What is your best running tip that you would like to share with us? | Enjoy your running and go at your own pace. Don’t be afraid to try different events (distances or terrain) and buy a foam roller, works wonders on tight muscles. |
What is your proudest moment in your running career? | Running the London marathon. This had been a childhood aim from watching it on tv in the 80’s. |
What are your running goals? | I would like a sub 4 hour marathon and a sub 45 minute 10k. |
What event are you training for at the moment? | Yorkshire marathon |
