Tell us your name. | Christina Taylor |
How and when did you first start running? | Richard (my now husband) introduced me to running in 2008. I can still remember how hard it was to keep going for even 10 minutes…but I kept at it and ran a few 10Ks and the Great North Run over a few years. I then returned to it in 2016 after a 5 year break. |
What brought you to Nidd Valley? | I had started running again in mid 2016 but I was lacking motivation, and I realised that I would never keep it up on my own especially over the dark winter months. I spoke to a running friend who said that Nidd Valley were know for being a friendly club, so after a few weeks I finally plucked up the courage to give it a go. My friend was right, and I felt welcomed right from the start. |
When did you join Nidd Valley? | October/November 2016 |
What is your favourite running music? Genre or specific tracks? | I’ve never listened to music when I run. I enjoy the quiet when I’m on my own, or a natter when in a group! |
What is your favourite food before and after running? | Before a morning run I will have porridge and a cup of tea. Before an evening run I won’t have much, maybe a couple of crackers. After a run…pretty much anything! But I always try to have something small and sweet within 10 minutes otherwise I feel a bit funny! |
What is your best running tip that you would like to share with us? | Running is as much about confidence than anything else…believe in yourself and keep pushing. Having a fantastic running club around you really helps to build your confidence as well. |
What is your proudest moment in your running career? | Completing Bridlington Half in under 2 hours (just!!). Also, being part of the 2018 Nidd Valley Ladies bed race team. |
What are your running goals? | Mostly to keep enjoying running and to stay injury free. I would love to run a sub 50 minute 10K, and I’d like to do some longer events…possibly something off-road. |
What event are you training for at the moment? | I’ve got a few races booked in for the rest of the year, but no particular big event at the moment. Maybe next year! |
