How and when did you first start running? | Four years ago when struggling with stress and work pressures I read a really inspirational article about running and mindfulness. I’d cheered my husband over the finish line of a few half marathons and thought I’d give it a go. I went out in the cover of darkness at first as I was so self conscious. I found that as I pounded the pavements it felt good to clear my head, and soon I was looking forward to getting out there to bounce out the stresses of the day. Once I’d got my confidence and stamina up I then ran with some friends in the daylight and haven’t looked back since. |
What brought you to Nidd Valley? | Having tried another local club it felt too competitive and I just wanted to join a friendly non judgemental club for social runs and be able to keep running through the winter and dark nights. Jeff told me about the club and encouraged me to try it out. |
When did you join Nidd Valley? | October 2017 |
What is your favourite running music? Genre or specific tracks? | I love to run and chat and take in the surroundings but if running alone I like anything upbeat and usually chart stuff. |
What is your favourite food before and after running? | Porridge and banana |
What is your best running tip that you would like to share with us? | Rest when your body tells you to and don’t pressurise yourself if you don’t get the time or the distance you wanted to. |
What is your proudest moment in your running career? | Breaking 10 miles for the first time with a friend – never ever thought I’d be able run that distance. |
What are your running goals? | To stay healthy and be able to keep running. |
What event are you training for at the moment? | Nothing specific although I’m starting to get tempted to do something in the future. |
