The Week Ahead – Monday 26th November 2018

Evening Nidders,

It’s week #3 of the intervals, and that see the dream partnership of Jon Easton as coach, with Phil Ventress as his ‘friendly’ assistant. We’re heading to Wheatlands Road East to do the hill session there. You can either meet at the club, ready to run at 7pm, or meet at the corner of Slingsby Walk and Oatlands Drive at 7.10pm, just in time for a warm up.

On Thursday Ben Baird has kindly offered to organise another 1-mile time trial at The Oval. Martin will be meeting at the club at 7pm and then leading a run to the Oval from there, so you can choose to meet at the club at 7pm as usual, or they’ll meet you at The Oval from about 7.15pm onwards.

If you fancy something a little bit steadier, and longer on Thursday I thought we could run to Green Lane. So those who chose to run the 1-mile time trial can join you for the first part of your run as you head out of the club via Claor Road, you’ll wave goodbye at the top of Claro Road though as you turn left and run towards the hospital and then up Slingsby Walk. You turn left at the top onto Oatlands Drive, passing the top of Wheatlands Road (briefly remembering you ran this way on Tuesday) before turning right onto Hookstone Road and up towards M&S. From there its straight across onto Leadhall Lane then turning right onto Green Lane, straight across the roundabout and along Beckwith Road before returning back to the club via Otley Road. You might even get to see the 1-mile time triallers on your way back!

The initial meeting point for this route is the corner of Slingsby Walk and Wetherby Road.

Don’t forget your hi-viz vests and head torches (if you have one), it’s really dark now.

Here’s a reminder of the paces we run:
Group 1 – if you run 5k in 23 minutes or quicker
Group 2 – if you run 5k in 26 minutes or quicker
Group 3 – if you run 5k in 29 minutes or quicker 29
Group 4 – if you run 5k in 33 minutes
Stay safe everyone, I’ll not be at the club this week, but enjoy your running and I’ll see you next week.

Thanks
Dan
