Afternoon All,
Hope everyone is well and enjoying some good running and, of course, the UCI World Cycling Championships. It was great to see so many of you this morning at the Crag Rat Race. Well done to everyone.
I thought it would be a good idea to give you some brief information on a few things planned in the near future, and what’s going on behind the scenes as we head further into Autumn/Winter.
Our plogging event was very well received and thanks to Sarah Chalmers we’ve received a good cause award of £250 from Taylors of Harrogate / Bettys. We intend to buy large bin bags, litter pickers and gloves for next time with this money.
Sarah and Martin our team captains have compiled the 2019/2020 winter cross country races for our championships. Full information can be found on our website. Run 5 races and you’ll receive a medal!
Jeff Walker is taking the lead on another couch to 5K training course which starts early October and judging by the number of enquiries, its going to be a huge success.
October is considered a rest or quiet month in terms of coached sessions for us but the usual Tuesday and Thursday sessions will take place from the hockey club.
Sam Fugill has been busy in recent months pulling together our Guy Fawkes 10 mile race. Everything is on track, with places sold out in record time! There will be recce runs of the route throughout October. It’s a steady pace for everyone involved so don’t be shy.
We have a Nidd Valley social quiz charity event in the planning for 22nd November. No running involved just intellect and a sense of fun. Nadene will be sending out full information very soon.
Emma Kicks will be coordinating winter interval sessions starting in November in blocks of 6 weeks.
Finally, we are in the early stages of linking up with other local clubs to coordinate a Round Harrogate Relay Run with teams from each club. The date is yet to be confirmed but January is looking good.
