Hi Everyone,
I have some exciting news about a new inter- club virtual race that we’ve been invited to take part in, and have obviously accepted!
Ripon Runners have set up a 5K race involving themselves, us and Knaresborough Striders. It’s come about quite quickly, so rather than wait until Sunday when I usually e mail, I’m sending this out today.
It’s worked out really well for us, as the race distance is 5K, and the dates between which it’s to be run happen to coincide with the dates our very own 5K virtual race. So, one huge 5K virtual race effort with two race entries!
Ripon Runners have provided a detailed account of the event, which Ive scaled down for you to read.
Inter-club 5k virtual challenge.
Knaresborough Striders, Nidd Valley Road Runners, Ripon Runners.
Purpose: to create a competitive fun, inter club competition.
How it works. Runners from individual clubs complete a 5k run, at a venue of their own choice, and record their details, post on Facebook and contribute towards the points total for their club.
The club with the most points will win the competition, and the emphasis is getting as many of our members running as possible.
Facebook
A Facebook page will be created and a club representative (Graham Hyde) will invite all club members into the group.
Members without a Facebook account or who do not wish to be included on the Facebook page, can email their club rep who can inform the challenge administrator of results

In the spirit of fair competition, runs are to be completed on a course that is as flat as possible.
All competitors must be bona fide members of each club.

Only submit 1 time for your 5K. Multiple submissions for times will not count, your first (and only) submission will be used.
COVID.19.
Clubs to adhere to current social distancing requirements and current government guidance on group numbers, avoid crowded locations.
There will be a near two week timescale to complete the run, to help avoid any crowding, please plan to use all of that time and not all complete either at the start or end of the challenge, spread your efforts.
Nidd Valley.
Your club needs you!
This is an inter-club challenge, so the more runners, the more points and the greater the chance of winning!
Good luck and run like the wind!
Best Wishes, Christine.
