Afternoon All
Blimey, what a busy week everyone has had! Smashing out 5K’s and 10K’s, with people celebrating PB’s, pushing hard in hot temperatures, coming back from injury or even walking whilst injured!
I’ve seen people teaming up to offer a sense of racing, pacing one another and generally offering lots of healthy encouragement.
A tremendous effort by everyone in our bid to hold on to the Mob Match 10K trophy and do ourselves proud in the inter club 5K challenge.
I cant wait to find out the results.
Thank you everyone.
I can’t write this email today without a mention of Andy Harris who has amazed so many of us with his determination, fitness, courage and sheer cycling prowess in completing his Everest challenge.
Andy cycled the height of Mount Everest 29,029 feet by continuously cycling up and down a hill known affectionately as the Birstwith Brute. A 15% gradient!
He began this monumental challenge at 7.30pm on Friday evening and cycled overnight into Saturday finishing just before midnight last night.
This is billed as one of the worlds hardest cycling challenges and he did it. Andy is raising money for St Michaels Hospice so if you’re interested to learn more please visit his Just Giving page titled Andrew’s Everesting.
Congratulations on smashing the challenge Andy!
So, back to the running and this week. We have our usual club nights and our very own virtual road race champs continue with a 10 mile event for you to do. This is a one week challenge with results to be submitted by Sunday 16th August to Sarah or Kevin.
Remember, you only have to do 4 of the 7 runs on offer to qualify for a participation award.
