Week Ahead 22nd August 2020

Afternoon All

I hope you’re all well and sitting comfortably as this weeks email had some important information for you read through. Im going to get straight to the point and begin with the below with what is an almost unprecedented event.

Nidd Valley Road Runners

Extraordinary Meeting Sunday 6th September for the special business of approving a £200 donation to Long Lands Common.

Back ground:

In the past the Club has made small charitable donations in support of local organisations whose aims and ethos have resonated with our members. For example, last year we donated £200 to Knaresborough Park Run towards the purchase of a defibrillator, the previous year we donated a similar amount to Harrogate Park Run.

Opportunity:

This year the Club has an opportunity to support a project being led by Nidd Gorge Community Action (NGCA) to transform an available piece of greenbelt farmland into a new 30 acre public woodland to be known as ‘Long Lands Common’ The woodland will border the Nidderdale Greenway, close to the starting point at The Avenue, Starbeck and the Bilton Triangle.

The Committee’s view is that the Club should support this project as it is expected that many of our members and their families will benefit directly and it further adds to the prevention of a possible future Harrogate Relief Road in the Nidd Gorge.

Proposal:

The Committee hereby gives notice to call an Extraordinary meeting to discuss and approve the single issue to buy ‘shares’ in Long Lands Common.

Logistics:

With current Covid restrictions it is not possible to hold the meeting in person. The proposal is to firstly arrange a zoom meeting on Wednesday 2nd September at 7.30pm to facilitate a question and answer session regarding the proposal.  Details of the Zoom meeting are available to club members only.

In other news we have:

Membership Subscriptions.

Another reminder for those members yet to pay their subscriptions, they need to be made by 31st August 2020  if you’re staying with us.
