Week Ahead – Sunday 20th December 2020

Afternoon All

This week its all about Christmas, but still on a running theme.

That said, before I launch into the details, please don’t forget to email Sarah or Kevin with your cross country times. You have until 7pm tonight to do so.

Tuesday 22/12/20 Social Run.

Sarah has already emailed everyone about the plan to do a social run instead of the scheduled interval session this Tuesday 22nd December.

As a reminder here’s the details:

Head to where you would be doing intervals for week 4 (check the NVRR website for details) at the usual time and meet up with your interval buddy mates.  From there head off to the bright lights on a “treasure hunt” and try and find the items which I will email/Facebook on the morning of 22nd December, don’t want any of you competitive bunch to go looking early – I know Tesco says there’s no naughty list this year but……..  Then take a photo of yourselves at the various locations of the items and post them on our Facebook page – prizes for finding them all and of course, most imaginative photos – within Covid guidelines.

Emma Kicks suggested interval session.

Don’t worry about missing the actual interval session, as Emma Kicks is also going to provide a session you can do of your own accord at anytime during the week.

Wednesday 23rd December.

Thursday 24th December.

I’m not going to suggest a route as you may want to decide on the evening, depending on numbers and the various paces.

12 days of Christmas. Starting 26th December.

Bec Carman has also come up with an idea aptly titled the 12 days of Christmas. The poster is attached and contains all the details you need. Its more than enough to keep you motivated and of course have some fun in doing so.

12 days of Christmas.

Ring Way Relay Event.

Moving only just into the new year, were teaming up with Harrogate Harriers again to do the popular Ring Way Relay event.

Heres some of the details with attachments including the route and the waiver.

Date: – Sunday 3 January 2021

Start / Finish at Harrogate Squash and Fitness Centre, Hookstone Wood Road from about 9:00 am – tbc

Teams will start at intervals and slower teams are encouraged to start earlier (Full details to follow) It is not unknown for a team to take more than 3 hours 30 mins!

The basic team make up is 4 runners either mixed or all male/ all female but pairs (male/female/mixed)  and solo entries will be accepted and there are prizes (mugs) for each category.

This doesn’t stop 2 or more people running each leg but they will have to decide who gets the mug if, by some fluke or lack of competition, they should happen to win.

There will be a waiver to sign, an entry fee of £10 per team / £2.50 pp all of which will be donated to Yorkshire Air Ambulance. It may be possible to pay this in advance or otherwise brought to the start by the first runner along with the waiver.

Well, thats all things Christmas and running covered, just time for me to wish you and all your families a very Merry Christmas. I hope youre able to spend some time together despite the restrictions.

Keep up the running, as you well know its physically good for you, great for mental wellbeing and of course at this time of year helps with the calorie intake!
