Hi all!
My turn to write the weekly email this week, and I’m going to start with the week ahead and other things you may like to put in your diaries.
On Tuesday will be club run as normal. Meeting at the club ready to run at 7 as normal. How about a run down to Knaresborough again as there will be loads of bed race teams out for their last training session before the race on Saturday. There will be a few different paced groups available as always, so take your pick on the night, or shout out on facebook or email if you are looking for a specific pace and distance.
Then on Thursday you have a choice of championship races. For points in the road champs you’ll need to get yourselves to Yeadon for the Dragons’ race, which is approximately 5.5 miles over a mixed terrain course. The race starts at 7:30 and if you’ve not collected your number yet, please arrive nice and early to collect it from Captain Dazzler. If you’ve not entered the series yet you can still enter here : https://racebest.com/races/krwwt
The race calendar can be viewed on the HDSRL website http://www.harrogate-league.org.uk/wp/
If it’s fell champs points you’re after, then it’s off to Kettlewell for the Kettlewell Anniversary fell race. We had a fantastic time out last Thursday checking out the route and learning a bit of map reading. Did you know you get to chase a blow-up shark round the course? You can enter this one on the day or enter via race best here:

There aren’t any championship races at the weekend, so there’s no excuse for not watching our six teams compete in the Great Knaresborough Bed Race! Six teams! Wow! We have two Junior teams, two ladies’ teams, a men’s team and a mixed team taking part. Do go and support them, it’s an amazing day out. Good luck teams and thank you in advance to our marshals who have volunteered to help out on the day.
A little further ahead into next week, on Wednesday 14th June is the Otley 10 mile race, which counts as a long race for the road championships. Don’t forget, to qualify for a trophy in the road championships you need to have done at least one long one. Will this be the one you choose? Go on and enter here if so:

One more thing to mention before moving on to the results is that there is a committee meeting tomorrow evening. If there is anything you’d like the committee to discuss, please let any member of the committee know.
Now for the results!
There haven’t been any championship races but that’s clearly not stopping us!
Well done to Karen Mills who completed the Edinburgh marathon in 3:59:16. Running well in the half marathon were Kevin Clark (1:23:31), Vicky Thomas (1:55:08) and Sue Ball (1:58:40).
At Northallerton 10km were Luke Scorer (40:21), Phily Thompson (52:46) and Iain Scott (57:14). Andrew Davis also ran a 10km at Raby Castle. I don’t know where that is but Andrew raced round in 44:22. Brilliant times all of you.
Chris Morris, Russel Geraghty and Sarah Chalmers headed over to Ilkley for a 7 (ish) mile trail race on bank holiday Monday. Their times were 1:04:55, 1:22:27 and 1:25:28 respectively. Nice work.
Yesterday we had some Nidds in the hills again. Russell Geraghty chose to run the Pen-y-Ghent fell race which is 6.5 miles with about 1600 feet of climb. He charged back down the hill in 1:28:44. Meanwhile, just around the corner at Threshfield, your Captains and Andrew Gilbertson took on the Wharfedale off road half marathon. Captain D took the lead in 1:46:11 followed by Andrew in 2:14:07, and I trotted to the finish line in 2:23:38.
If you’ve raced and I’ve not mentioned you, please accept my apologies and let Sam know for the email next week if you’d like a shout out!
Have a fantastic week everyone and see you all soon
Emma
