Tell us your name. Paul Manning
How and when did you first start running? I dabbled with running in about 2000, but really started in 2005.
What brought you to Nidd Valley? My dad told me about it as he was a member, and thought I’d enjoy it. It turned out that I really did.
When did you join Nidd Valley? I joined around 2006.
What is your favourite running music? Genre or specific tracks? I don’t run to music any more, but when I did, in the early days it was usually something like the Prodigy or Metallica.
What is your favourite food before and after running? If it’s before a race, I’d have porridge with yoghurt and fruit. Afterwards, I crave things like fish, eggs, and salt and vinegar crisps.
What is your best running tip that you would like to share with us? Don’t forget to stretch. I’ve fallen foul of it so many times, and you pay the price.
What is your proudest moment in your running career? Running my first marathon with the club. It was the 2008 Anglesey Marathon. I never thought I’d ever run one, but with the support of the club I did it.
What are your running goals? I’d love to get below 22 minutes on a parkrun.
What event are you training for at the moment? I’ve got the Vale of York Half Marathon later on this year.
