Tell us your name. | Nige Scaife |
How and when did you first start running? | I trained to run the Knaresborough 10 mile fun run when I was 15 (1986!) |
What brought you to Nidd Valley? | I’d ran sociably with Capt. Grayling (Martin Lofthouse) for many years and I eventually secumned when he offered me a signing on ‘package’ of 2 pairs of his old running shoes and a four pack of out of date bitter. Turns out he was robbed! |
When did you join Nidd Valley? | November 2017 |
What is your favourite running music? Genre or specific tracks? | Don’t often run to music but when I do it’s got to be someone like Public Image Ltd or The Beastie Boys. For a long gentle Sunday morning run I’d go for ‘The Dreaming’ or ‘Sky of Honey’ by Kate Bush. |
What is your favourite food before and after running? | Before a race, 2 digestive biscuits and a cup of tea is all I can manage. Afterwards, anything and everything in huge quantities! |
What is your best running tip that you would like to share with us? | If you’re running your first marathon or half, choose a training program that you think you can manage and follow it as closely as you can. It’s one less thing to worry about and will give you confidence during what can be quite an intimidating day. You will enjoy it more. |
What is your proudest moment in your running career? | Probably running sub 1’30” at The Brass Monkey half marathon this year. |
What are your running goals? | More PBs at all distances from 5k to marathon. |
What event are you training for at the moment? | Parkrun! I want to run consistently sub 20 min. |
