Tell us your name. | Fiona Robinson |
How and when did you first start running? | Probably sometime during 1994, when I took up running to keep fit with the Reebok Running Sisters Network. |
What brought you to Nidd Valley? | After a few months of being drafted in to help marshal races including timing at Guy Fawkes 10 and seeing how much FRP enjoyed running with Nidd Valley, I decided to join the club as well. |
When did you join Nidd Valley? | I think that it was about 1994, not long after we moved to Harrogate. |
What is your favourite running music? Genre or specific tracks? | I prefer running and walking off road and listening to nature or using the time to plan things out in my head, rather than listening to music. |
What is your favourite food before and after running? | Pre-run, I like to have porridge and a banana in a morning, or an egg on toast if an afternoon or evening run. Post-run, I like to eat Salmon with lots of veggies, but as a treat I like fish and chips, especially on the way back from a race at the Otley chippie. |
What is your best running tip that you would like to share with us? | Don’t go off too fast at the start of a race, run at your own pace and try to avoid getting dragged along too quickly with other runners. And most importantly don’t forget to stretch! |
What is your proudest moment in your running career? | Completing 50 parkruns within 1 year, following my 50th birthday, was one of the most difficult running challenges I have done. However, I am proudest of finishing Rombalds Stride earlier this year in challenging conditions, including crossing Ilkley Moor with driving snow and being pulled out of a bog that was well over my knees. |
What are your running goals? | To keep injury free and be able to keep running as long as Alan. |
What event are you training for at the moment? | I’m not really training for anything specific, but am hoping to complete an off road ultra, later this year. |
