Tell us your name. | Phil Robinson (aka Fell Running Phil) |
How and when did you first start running? | My father had a heart attack when he was only 50 and I decided I didn’t want that to happen to me. Running became one of the healthy enjoyable solutions. |
What brought you to Nidd Valley? | An advert in the local newspaper and Mr NVRR himself, Alan Harby. |
When did you join Nidd Valley? | 1993, so 2018 is my 25th anniversary. |
What is your favourite running music? Genre or specific tracks? | The sounds of the countryside – why would anyone choose to block it out. Music is best left to a live performer. |
What is your favourite food before and after running? | Before – eggs. After, it’s got to be chips. Every run has a chip quotient – full portion or just ½. |
What is your best running tip that you would like to share with us? | Get the balance right – I’ve seen too many do obsessive amounts of training, just to burn-out and give up running altogether. Longevity is the name of the game for me. |
What is your proudest moment in your running career? | Two please. 1. Encouraging my son Alex to run and hopefully creating the right environment to enable him to keep it up. 2. Personally, completing a 100 miler in 2003. |
What are your running goals? | Longevity again. Having just completed my 700th race, I guess it would be completing 750. |
What event are you training for at the moment? | Can’t say I’ve ever properly trained for a race. I’ve always relied on the club to do the right thing on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s and it’s a great base for |
