Rebecca Ventress

Tell us your name. Rebecca Ventress
How and when did you first start running? I started running in 2007 after being inspired by all the women that did the race for life so I found a 5k training plan online and went for it!
What brought you to Nidd Valley? A friend had joined and was loving it, so I decided to be brave and went along too.
When did you join Nidd Valley? I can’t remember, 2008 maybe??
What is your favourite running music? Genre or specific tracks? I only listen to music if I’m running a long distance alone, I’d go for a random Spotify playlist and see what surprises I get.
What is your favourite food before and after running? Carb rich before, porridge or toast or a banana (or all 3) and afterwards I might have a chocolate protein drink followed swiftly by a cup of tea.
What is your best running tip that you would like to share with us? No matter how much it hurts always smile when there’s a camera around, as a bad photo will find itself on the NVRR awards night slide show and you’ll never live it down.
What is your proudest moment in your running career? There are lots.
Being a part of the Zip2Zoom coaching team made me immensely proud especially when they graduated at Fountains Abbey parkrun.
A sub 2 half marathon in Barcelona, I never believed I was capable of this.
My first (and only) marathon in Edinburgh, 26.2 miles in 25 degree heat.
My Mum and Dad coming to watch me do the bedrace the first time as they were so proud of me.
What are your running goals? I really want to get better at parkrun-I’d love to beat my PB and I’m trying to do this by doing some weight training at the gym to make me stronger.
What event are you training for at the moment? Nothing – just enjoying what comes along at the moment.
