The Week Ahead – Wintervals #2 – Monday 19th November 2018

Evening Nidders,

It’s week two of the winter intervals tomorrow night. As some of you will know, I don’t use Facebook, but I’ve heard there was some positive feedback posted on there, from a personal perspective it was great to see over 50 of you out and getting involved, many of you for the first time!

So this week’s intervals is the Knox Lane hill session. Your coach for tomorrow’s session is Emma, and she’ll be supported by Lynsey. You can either run from the club at 7pm prompt – it’s 1.5mile route in total so we’ll need to leave on time, or you can meet at the corner of Knox Lane and Ripley Drive ready for the warm-up at 7.15pm. I’ll see you there either way…

On Thursday, Martin has volunteered to lead a run down the greenway, it’s very dark down there, so you’ll need to wear a headtorch. The pace will be close to Group 1 pace, so roughly 8 mins per mile, Martin will see you at the club, ready to run at 7pm.

For anyone not fancying that, I thought we could do the Duchy Road route. Leaving the club via Claro Road, we turn right at the top on Skipton Road, following it down till we reach Kings Road. We stay on Kings Road before turning right onto Coppice Drive and then crossing Ripon Road, and onto Duchy Road. We follow Duchy Road to the end before turning left on to Harlow Moor Drive, then left onto Otley Road, across the Prince of Wales roundabout and then back to the club via York Place.

The initial meeting point for this route is the corner of Kings Road and Skipton Road.

In terms of run leaders, I imagine the majority of Group 1 will be running with Martin on the greenway, so if anyone would like to lead a Group 2, 3 or 4 run down the greenway then feel free to organise that, either in advance or at the club prior to setting off at 7pm. Remember you will need to wear a headtorch to do this safely.

Have a good week, and I’ll no doubt see lots of you tomorrow at the interval session.

Thanks

Dan
