Week Ahead – Monday 10th December 2018

Evening Nidders,

I’ll have to be quick this evening, I’ve left my laptop charger at work, and I’m on a bit of a low battery! The pressure!

Firstly, a big thank you to everyone who has stepped forward to enquire about filling one of the vacant roles on the committee(as mentioned in last week’s email). We’ve had people throw their hats into the ring for the roles of Chair, Membership Secretary and Ladies Captain, which is great news. There’s still some General Member positions that need filling along with the General Secretary role, of course nothings official until our AGM in February so still lots of time for you to get involved, speak to any members of the current Committee for more information.

On Tuesday, I’m back coaching and this week I’ll be supported by Martin and Steve, we’re heading back to Beech Grove, a repeat of the first session of the winter – I can’t believe we’re at #5 already! As always meet at the club ready to run at 7pm, or you can meet at the Prince of Wales roundabout ready for a warm up from 7.10 ish. Please don’t forget your hi-vis vests, I’ve noticed a few people turning up in dark tops, which just isn’t safe at this time of year. If something was to happen when out running with the club we wouldn’t be insured, so we should really refuse to let people join in, but we don’t want to have to do that, so please ‘invest in a vest!’

Onto Thursday and I thought we could run towards the Valley Gardens, so leaving the club via Claro Road we run through and down towards the Pump Rooms. From there it’s up to the top of Cornwall Road before turning left onto Harlow Moor Road, and then right onto Otley Road before taking a left again onto Beckwith Road. From there we head back to the club via Green Lane, Leadhall Lane and then either Leeds Road or Hookstone Road. If that route seems a bit long then you can choose to turn left onto Otley Road and then back to the club via the Stray.

The initial break point for this run is the entrance to the Valley Gardens.

Here’s a reminder of the paces we run:
Group 1 – if you run 5k in 23 minutes or quicker
Group 2 – if you run 5k in 26 minutes or quicker
Group 3 – if you run 5k in 29 minutes or quicker 29
Group 4 – if you run 5k in 33 minutes
That’s all from me, I’ve made it with just a few % to spare!

Hopefully see you tomorrow

Dan
