HDSRL 2021 – Exciting Announcement

Hi team Nidd,

Harrogate and District Summer Race League (Evening League)

Exciting news! With thanks to an enormous organisational effort from our very own Dave Seaman and of course all of the member clubs, our much-loved ‘evening league’ is back for 2021, with two in person races and plenty of virtual races with specific courses to follow. Wetherby are hosting an in person race on the 21 July and Harrogate Harriers on the 2 September.

Please enter this year’s series from tomorrow, Monday 7th June hereHarrogate District Summer Race League 2021 – RaceBest. You may have already signed up last year, you will receive an email if so, but do check.

You can also take a look at the courses on the HDSRL website for more details, there are more to add over the next few days.  HDSRL – Harrogate District Summer Race League (harrogate-league.org.uk).

I have attached a full announcement to this email as well so you please read all the information in there and online.

To ensure we encourage club participation we will also include the two in person races at Wetherby and Harrogate in our road championships so for a bargain entry fee of £15 you get 2 races to count towards your badge as well as the evening league competition.

Please support our evening league, like many races we need to safeguard it’s future by racing this year, albeit in a slightly different format to the one we are used to.

For those new to club or evening league, these races offer a great chance to encourage each other, wear your club colours with pride and run with (or against 😉) friends and rivals from other local clubs.

Supporting this year with your race entry will enable us to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the league next year. Long may our much-loved summer race tradition continue.

Thank you
Captains Sarah & Kevin 😊

P.S.

Running in the evening league races could get you selected for team GB! Thank you to Fell running Phil who sent this little gem of a fact over to me last night!

Marc Scott who secured selection for Tokyo in the British 10,000m Olympic Trials used to run for Richmond&Zetland in the Evening League. He ran our race in 2010. An example from the archives: http://www.harrogate-league.org.uk/archive.php?year=2010&page=results&race=ilkley
