Our training headquarters are at Harrogate Hockey Club, Ainsty Road, Harrogate HG1 4AP. Off the A59 Skipton Road follow Claro Road. You will pass a new housing development on your right, before you then turn right onto Ainsty Road. Follow this into the grounds of Harrogate High School, continue to the left of the large School Sports Centre where you will see the Harrogate Hockey Club car park, pitch and building. Our changing facilities are located on the ground floor.
We meet here twice a week at 6.45pm every Tuesday and Thursday, in time for our run briefing at 6.55pm, before setting off promptly at 7.00pm. The club has excellent male and female changing and showering facilities together with, importantly, a bar open on a Thursday evening.
Members run in compatible groups using the well-lit Harrogate road network and the local Stray parkland during winter, interspaced with interval training. The latter is co-ordinated by our fully trained and UKA accredited coaches. Our more adventurous members will occasionally venture off-road on a mid-week head torch run just for fun!

During the warm summer evenings we tend to run along the excellent local path and cycle network, and in particular make maximum use of the wonderful Nidd Gorge and Nidderdale Greenway. No one gets left behind, that’s for sure. Our popular summer “pub runs” are keenly anticipated where we meet at a local pub in one of the numerous country villages on the outskirts of Harrogate, go for a run, then back for food and a drink – is there a better way to spend a lovely summer’s evening.
In September 2013, we started a Juniors section which has grown hugely in popularity and offers training and fun by fully UKA accredited coaches on term-time Monday evenings. The club was proud to receive the Clubmark accreditation demonstrating its firm commitment to child protection and strong coaching. See the Junior section tab for more information.
There’s no need to join the club immediately so come down a few times and see if it’s for you. We’ll do our best to make you welcome and hope that you’ll want to join us. We all love running and it doesn’t matter what speed you are.
